News 2020

Welcome to the website of Woodhall Friendly Bowls League with news and information for clubs, players and potential players for the 2020 season

Coronavirus

Following Government advice and that offered by the EBA  the committee has decided that the Woodhall Spa Friendly Bowls League season  is postponed for the foreseeable  future until we receive advice that it is safe play.

The EBA hopes that club members will still pay their membership fees to the clubs so that  the greens can be maintained and will be in a fit state to play on when it is safe to do so.

The Wilkinson Cup

This is a knock out cup competition played between members of the Woodhall Spa Friendly Bowls League. Currently there are thirteen teams in the league. There will be a draw to decide the ten teams involved in the preliminary round; three teams will receive a bye into the next round.

The eight remaining teams will then play to decide the semi-finalists.  The semi-final and final will be played on the same day at an agreed venue. This year, 2020, the venue is Mareham-Le- Fen.

EBF rules  shall apply. Each game will be decided by the AGGREGATE score of all three rinks, with a previously drawn rink to play off if the scores are tied.

The Home team will deliver the jack at the first end. The Captains will toss for the jack before the semi-final and the final.

Each team will consist of three rinks of three people, bowling three bowls each over 18 ends. Should a match be terminated for any reason, then the aggregate score at the time of termination will count as the final score provided at least 12 ends have been COMPLETED, by all three rinks. If 12 ends have not been completed by all three rinks then the match shall be void and shall be replayed in its entirety at a date MUTUALLY agreed between the teams.

Please inform the competition secretary of all results.

The preliminary round will be played on Wednesday August 12th, the first round on Wednesday August 19th, and the semi-finals and final on Wednesday August 26th.
