{"id":4615,"date":"2022-02-01T16:37:54","date_gmt":"2022-02-01T16:37:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodhallspabowlsleague.co.uk\/?page_id=4615"},"modified":"2023-01-24T17:32:50","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T17:32:50","slug":"news-2022","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/woodhallspabowlsleague.co.uk\/index.php\/news-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"News 2022"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3><strong>Welcome to the website of Woodhall Friendly Bowls League with news and information for clubs, players and potential players for the 2022 season.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The AGM of the league is due to held at Cranwell Social Club on Wednesday the 2nd of March starting at 2pm.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> The format of the League will the same as that proposed for 2020 with teams playing each other once. The programme is now published on the webpage. A new knock out competition has been included in<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> the programme and the Fixture Secretary will give details of this at the AGM.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> I have published the final tables for those teams that competed in 2021 <\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Have an enjoyable seasons bowling<\/span><\/h3>\n<h3>Annual General Meeting<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">This was held at the Cranwell Social Club on Wednesday\u00a0 on the 2nd March 2020. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The Chairman opened the meeting by giving his thanks to those members who helped ensure that there was a bowling season last year despite all the problems caused by the Covid pandemic. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">A minutes silence was held for all those members of the League who had died during the previous year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"><strong>Minutes<\/strong> of the last meeting were approved. Proposed by Rose Clapton and seconded by Ken Dyer. There were no matters arising as the last meeting was held two years previously. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Accounts\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The accounts were presented by the Treasurer .There were no points noted on the Accounts themselves, but it was reported that we no longer had a bank account as this facility had been withdrawn by all the banks for such small financial activity. It was agreed that we would maintain a petty cash system with the Treasurer reporting any activity each year. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Subscriptions\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The treasurer recommended that we still haveand\u00a0 a healthy cash balance that there should be none for the coming year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Election of Officers\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">As the current officers had indicated that they would stand for re election and there were no other nominations a proposal was made that the officers should be re elected on bloc. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"><strong>Competition<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Venues.\u00a0<\/strong>It was agreed that the following competitions would be held, Ron White\u00a0 at Heckington and the Stan Hargreaves at Eslaforde.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> Knockout Competition .<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> It was agreed to hold a knockout competition at the end of the season. It was to be called the Wilkinson Shield. Dates had already been already incorporated into the programme. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The Competition Secretary would forward to the Secretary details for inclusion on the Web Page .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> AOB\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">There was no other business other that agreeing the date of the next meeting which was agreed as being the first Wednesday of March 2023. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The meeting was closed at 2 30 pm<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The Wilkinson Cup Rules 2022<\/span><\/h3>\n<p>This <span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">is a knock out cup competition played between members of the Woodhall Spa Friendly League. Currently there are thirteen teams in the league. There will be a draw to decide the ten teams involved in the first round; three teams will receive a bye into the next round.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The subsequent eight remaining teams will then play to decide the semi-finalists.\u00a0 The semi-final and final will be played on the same day at an agreed venue. This year, 2022, the venue is Jubilee Park.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">EBF rules apply. Each game will be decided by the AGGREGATE score of all three rinks, with a previously drawn rink to play off if the scores are tied.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"><br \/>\nThe Home team will deliver the jack at the first end. The Captains will toss for the jack before the semi-final and the final.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Each team will consist of three rinks of three people, bowling three bowls each over 18 ends. Should a match be terminated for any reason, then the aggregate score at the time of termination will count as the final score provided at least 12 ends have been COMPLETED, by all three rinks. E.G. Mareham Le Fen is the home team against The Bristol.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Jubilee Park<\/h3>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">We have received notification that they have withdrawn from the League and will not complete their fixtures this season. It is possible that may re-join next year but if they do not we could\u00a0 relook at the structure of the league.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span> <span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Tables published today have any fixtures involving them declared null and void.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Ron White Shield<\/h3>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">This was held at Heckington. Of the thirteen teams in the league nine entered, but in the end only seven took part. The event was well organised with excellent catering and a good green. The eventual winner was Heckington with Woodhall Wanderers second.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"Standard\"><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\"> It would be appreciated if teams who did not compete let League officers know their reasons for not taking part.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Updates<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Please note: Sleaford Town\u00a0 have a change in Captain for the rest of the season. This\u00a0 change is included on the contacts page\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Stan Hargraves Cup.<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">This Competition takes place on Wednesday 3rd of August at Eslaforde Park. It is an competition for individuals as explained by the Competition Secretary.\u00a0 It would be useful if Club Captains could give some idea of the numbers planning to attend to officials at Eslaforde to help with planning for catering\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>League Results<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">As we are approaching the end of the season I have carried out an audit of the results so far and found these are correct. However, I have found an error in the calculation of the\u00a0 league table and have made the required correction. I apologise for this mistake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Stan Hargraves Cup<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">\u00a0The Stan Hargraves competition was won by Chris Kent from Cranwell with 63 shots. There were 30 people who participated. Just the right number. Thank you to all of you. The weather was a bit drizzly then got quite hot in the afternoon. A big thank you to Eslaforde Park for preparing the green and keeping us fed and watered.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>The Wilkinson Shield<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">The semi finals and final of the competition took place on the Jubilee Park green. A big thank you to Norman, Carolyn and the groundsman, apologies for not remembering your first name, for preparing everything and for being such good hosts. The semi-finals were played in a good spirit and with some good bowling. Woodpeckers prevailed over Horncastle and Ruskington beat Billinghay.<br \/>\nThe final in the afternoon set off about 2 o&#8217;clock with everyone raring to go. After trial ends a very close match ensued with Woodpeckers just in the lead but with five or six ends to go the tide turned and Ruskington came out 64 to 56 winners. Congratulations to Ruskington. Patrick our President presented the shield to Ruskington and distributed the prize money to the winners and the runners up.<br \/>\nA big thank you to all those taking part. It was nice to see all six rinks being played on in the morning. I hope you all enjoyed the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>League Result<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Congratulations to Sleaford Town on winning this league this season. <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">Billinghay were second. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">It has been confirmed that Jubilee Park will only be entering one <\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14.0pt;\">team next year.
